Everyone assumes that words have straightforward meanings. Philosophers because they want them to and politicians because they need them to. But the first law of politics is that words are ambiguous, says James Alexander.

The United Left Alliance is holding a Public Meeting in the
GREVILLE ARMS HOTEL in MULLINGAR on
Wednesday 22nd June at 8pm.

With the successful election of 5 United Left Alliance TD’s to the Dail in the last general election, the ULA is launching a branch in the Longford/Westmeath constituency and is appealing to working people, the youth and the unemployed to come along and help build a fighting left alternative to the policies of the current Fine Gael/Labour government.

David McKay, meeting organiser said,

“The launch of the United Left Alliance in Longford/Westmeath will help build a network of activists who are fed up with the bankers being paid out whilst hospitals face closures, schools face cuts and workers face the dole.
Fine Gael and Labour in office are continuing with the rotten politics of Fianna Fail.
We need to build on the success of the 5 left TD’s in the Dail and build a left alternative to the current cuts demanded by the EU/IMF bailout which is crippling the ordinary people.”

Councillor Brid Smith (ULA Cllr Ballyfermont/Drimnagh) will address the meeting with details of the United Left Alliance fight back and campaigns from throughout the country as well as how we can build a fight back in Longford/Westmeath.
