Communist Party of the Irish Republic Statement: War Criminal Hillary Clinton to attend OSCE Dublin Meeting

category international | anti-war / imperialism | press release author Friday November 30, 2012 14:01author by CPIR - Páirtí Cummanach na Poblachta Report this post to the editors

One of history's most bloodly and vicious war criminals to be feted in Dublin by the Irish comprador class on 6th and 7th of December, 2012.

The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), is an organization that was first set up in the 1970s, to oversee and report on negotiations and the implementation of agreements between the Warsaw Pact states and the Western imperial powers. Its staff was drawn from the officials of states who were party to these negotiations and agreements. Its findings were not binding, and it had no military forces at its disposal. However, from the very start, it tended to work towards the destabilization of the USSR, and the promotion of imperialist agendas in Eastern Europe.

Today, the OSCE is an unabashed instrument of US imperialist policy, which works within the NATO agenda. Eamon Gilmore is it's chairperson for 2012. It does not have military capacity itself, but has acted to set the scene for the justification of NATO attacks. Following the collapse of the USSR, it was extensively used as a weapon against Yugoslavia. It was given the role of enforcing the infamous "Dayton Accords," which were, in effect, the plans of West Germany and the USA for the final destruction of the Socialist state of Yugoslavia. It was remarkable that during this period, the OSCE was allowed to usurp the functions of the UN, particularly in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where US backed Muslim separatists felt the UN was not sufficiently on their side. After the conflict, the OSCE oversaw the inflicting of a neo-liberal regime on the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which has seen a catastrophic collapse in their living standards. In Kosovo, the OSCE played a leading role in stirring up sectarian and ethnic conflict, and then justifying the NATO intervention on the basis of the conflict it had helped to create. Following its "success" in Kosovo, the OSCE shifted its attention to promoting a US imperialist agenda in the South Caucasus and Central Asian countries. In 1999, the European Union's "Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe" was placed under the control of the OSCE. This "Stability Pact," viciously enforced neo-liberal policies on the former Socialist states of that region.

In 2003, the OSCE made clear what it sees as its current function. In its document "Strategy to Address Threats to Security and Stability in the Twenty-First Century," it claims that “threats to security and stability in the OSCE region (all of Europe and Central Asia) are today more likely to arise as negative, destabilizing consequences of developments that cut across the politico-military, economic and environmental and human dimensions, than from any major armed conflict”. In other words, it is the ordinary, oppressed, people of Europe - East and West - that are regarded as the potential enemy. The OSCE's website describes "policing" as an integral part of its operations. Ironically, it regards operations against "terrorism" to be its primary policing function, while it's chairperson, Eamon Gilmore, openly supports sectarian terrorist gangs in Syria.

This infamous organization will hold meetings at the Royal Dublin Society's Conference Centre, Ballsbridge, on the 6th and 7th of December, 2012. One of its main agenda items will be the breakup of the state of Moldova, and the imposition of "free market" values on the region. One of the delegates will be that most rabid dog of imperialism - Hillary Clinton. Who will ever forget her ghoulish joy, when told of the murder of Colonel Muammar al-Gaddafi and up to one hundred other unarmed POWs, on the 20th of October, 2011. She clapped her hands and screeched: "We came, we saw, he died." Clinton, of course, was quoting the first line of Julius Caesar's "The Conquest of Gaul," in which he describes one of the most genocidal conquests of all time. So much so, that the Roman Senate was moved to charge Caesar with war crimes in Gaul. This was the first time any leader was ever charged with war crimes. It was very telling that Hillary Clinton compared the US conquest of Libya with one of the most bloody and criminal campaigns in history. Today, Clinton funds and arms sectarian terrorist gangs in Syria, which have caused the deaths of 40,000 people, and the maiming of tens of thousands more.

The Communist Party of the Irish Republic calls on all Irish citizens of conscience to come out onto the streets and protest at the presence of the blood soaked war criminal, Hilary Clinton, in Ireland. We also call on people to condemn the OSCE, as an organization, and reject its presence on Irish soil.

All anti-imperialists in Ireland need to take this meeting very seriously and organize a determined opposition. The free state comprador class will be taking this opportunity to present themselves as central to the imperialist project. Eamon Gilmore has been attending the so called "Friends of Syria" meetings, letting everyone know that the Irish people fully support terrorism - as long as its for imperialist ends. He will be chairing this meeting, as this year's chairperson of the OSCE.

Its vital that we do not lie down as slaves under this provocation.
