Of course Kneecap should play Glastonbury, says Laura Perrins. Yes, they're morons. But morons deserve free speech too. One member may be on trial, but only for a summary offence. As long as we don't have to listen.

Britain's benefits bill will rise by a further ?8 billion even if Keir Starmer defeats Labour rebels on his flagship welfare reforms, the IFS has warned. Not really a cut, then, more a slightly slower rise.

BREAKING NEWS FROM SHANNON WARPORT

category clare | anti-war / imperialism | news report author Sunday February 03, 2013 23:47author by Galway Alliance Against War Report this post to the editors

Rtd Commandant Edward Horgan has just been in contact. After a vigil today at Shannon, which was specially to mark the 10th anniversary of the peaceful act of sabotage on a US warplane by the catholic ploughshares people, there was evidence of a lot of Irish military activity at the airport.

Edward and other members of Shannonwatch went to the viewing area near the runway to where they witnessed the arrival of 3 US military planes: two Hercules planes, presumably transporting weaponry, and the actual warplane the ploughshares people had sabotaged. Was this a coincidence? Unlikely. Probably an act of provocation by the US military. A follow up to another provocation where the new chairperson of the Shannon Airport Authority stated that servicing the US military was in Shannon's DNA.

And why the Irish military activity at the airport? The Irish soldiers were there to protect these 3 US aircraft overnight. The planes' personnel were brought by bus to a Limerick hotel for the night. These killers need their sleep. En route to Limerick the bus stopped briefly and one of the peace monitors got into the bus. There should be a report and pictures from Edward Horgan soon.

As the title says, money walks ,money talks , money is the language of shannon airport.

How do you think the aiport survived during the DAA fiasco for so long with no regular local or international tourism.

Ive seen it there myself many times, its honestly like a ghost town.

US military planes, and other such warplanes is the lifeblood of shannon airport.

The US military have their commercial air fees waived so in effect we are all subsidising these bastards.

If we are throwing away all ethical considerations here and getting blood money, couldn't we at least get the going rate!
