A Comparative Examination of Ireland’s Political Governance.

category international | politics / elections | opinion/analysis author Thursday July 02, 2020 12:40author by Joe Terry Report this post to the editors

Comparing similarities of the Political Governance in Ireland to that of China.

The governance of China by the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) could be equated to the current Irish set-up where Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and the Green Party (FFFGGP) have connived to form a government.
Let’s consider some of the similarities in both hegemonies?
Both are more autocratic than democratic.
Both have control of media that is beholden to the political entities in power. (In Ireland where recently RTE, the state broadcaster, got a €50 million leg-up; consequently, the organisation can not expound impartial political discourse).
Any meaningful alternative viewpoints or debates are censored. (e.g., freedom of expression and assembly and social media curtailment.)
The CPPCC is permanently dominated by one party, the Communist Party of China (CCP).
In Ireland, the political system is rigged and dominated by Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael. Those parties, when in power, have hijacked the constitution by enacting legislation to give the selfsame preferential benefits, funding and media coverage in general, and in particular, on the run-up to elections. Note, there is no provision for, or even mention of, political party cliques in the Bunreacht na hÉireann.
Is it fair to say Ireland has a CPPCC form of governance?
