Anti-racism activists say they fear for their safety after uncovering evidence that white supremacists plan to set up a “hit list” website called Redwatch Downunder.
The site will feature names, photographs, home and work addresses, car registrations and family details of anti-racism campaigners, refugee advocates, gay rights activists and other at-risk minorities. The Australian and New Zealand anti-racism group Fight dem back! discovered that Ben Weerheym, who was convicted over a spate of racist graffiti attacks in Perth last year, has been soliciting information to establish a menacing website.
Fight dem back! believes that Weerheym will use this site to intimidate and harass anti-racism activists and, potentially, witnesses in the upcoming trial against his infamous mentor, Jack Van Tongeren.
The original Redwatch site was established in the UK by neo-Nazi terrorist group Combat 18 and has led to violent attacks against British activists, including a car bombing.
The computer of Simon Sheppard, proprietor of Redwatch UK, was seized by police on 1 May 2005 under laws prohibiting incitement to racial hatred.
Fight dem back! has evidence of Weerheym’s intentions.
He has sent dozens of emails to white supremacists in Australia and New Zealand seeking information about “anarchists, reds, homos, multiculturalists, etc” including names, addresses, phone numbers, and vehicle registrations.
He has also instructed people to follow and photograph their targets.
On one occasion, Weerheym called for information about a particular anti-racism activist, saying “I have a personal vendetta against this idiot… I will actually take this one on myself.”
He also threatened the activist, saying [sic]:
"I WILL seriously assault you, I don’t care if I go to jail dickhead, I will stomp on your fucking head, I couldn’t care who reads this, you are a filthy peice of shit that deserves to be badly assaulted going on like that. It may not happen straight away but I will store it in my brain for another time. You think I am an evil nazi? I will go out of my way for you to definately think so."
Kyle Chapman, the former head of the New Zealand National Front, told a group of white supremacists, “We are getting to that stage where it will just be time to send the boys around.”
Chapman has been distributing Redwatch Downunder information packs on Weerheym’s behalf.Fight dem back!’s Australian campaign manager, Mat Henderson-Hau, says the matter must be taken seriously by the authorities.
“Weerheym was convicted for racially-motivated graffiti attacks, and he continues to associate with Jack van Tongeren, who was convicted for racially-motivated firebombings,” Mr Henderson-Hau said.
“We are worried that Redwatch Downunder will see Weerheym follow in his mentor’s footsteps.”
“The purpose of this website is to threaten, intimidate and facilitate physical assaults against people who stand up against white supremacists in our community,” he continued.
“As far as we are concerned, this is a terrorist threat.

The sad thing is that they may not have to try very hard to solicit support from mny other Australians.
Not only do many openly discriminate and insult the Aboriginal people,many also boast such patriotism and are proud of the oppression that was laid upon and is still laid upon the Indigenous peoples.
Australian police do little or nothing to help,in many cases they themselves are the purveyors of abuse,both physical and verbal.
There have been countless numbers of Aboriginal deaths in Police custody in recent years and any attempts by the victims familiesd and their communities to seek justice have been crushed with an iron fist by Police and state.
Disgraceful.
The left and anti facist groups have been doing this for years to the right.So they are just using the same tactics.Cant stand the heat and all that...
