piecing together a network

Creating radical visual arts

This is call out to creative, resourceful people who are interested in setting up a nation wide organisation to produce campaign videos, documentaries, music videos…etc from a libertarian perspective.

The basic idea is to set up a collective were people could pool their skills, resources and time together to create practical projects with half a shoestring budget.

Anybody who is interested in organising a network such as this, no matter how little if any equipment you have please e-mail me or post up any comments on this matter so we can advance this idea to the next level.

I think this is a good idea....there were several Irish people filming at the G8 but unfortunatly there wasn't much sharing of footage when we came back (yet)

Maybe we could start an Irish based version of Camcorder Guerrillas?

http://camcorderguerillas.net/about.htm

Camcorder Guerillas are interesting becasue instead of just going to a protest to film (recative)...they can be proactive and as a collective achieve consensus on what type of film they want to make. Also not everyone is a 3d studio max master! but in a collective you might have people with specialist skills in 3d graphics, animation, compositing,etc....skill sharing will realy improve the quality of any videos made by the collective .

I guess something like Camcorder Guerillas/Undercurrents is good for making campaign videos or making something on a particular issue but is not really neccessary for documenting a protest....all we need for that is to have all the video heads on a mailing list so we can share footage.

This has worked very well for the Imc Uk Video Group

P.S. Check out the related link....it is to the event notice regarding the screening of G8 videos in Kilkenny on the 18th of August

I think we can learn a lot from imc uk video group, just a process of exchanging ideas etc. will add a lot of spice to the scene, if they can operate that well with each other why can't we.
