The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine unsuccessfully tried to unite all the Palestinian left on one list in the recent elections for the Palestinian Parliament. While the DFLP managed to put together a joint list with the Palestinain Peoples Party (former communists), the Democratic Union (left of centre) and left independents, both the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (left nationalist) and Palestinian National Initiative (community based) ran seperate lists. Contrary to the armchair generals of the SWP, who demand a complete surrender to the fundamentalists, and the CWI, who demand a completely unrealistic 'socialist Israel/socialist Palestine/socialist federation of the Middle East' line, the comrades of the DFLP risk their lives every day to bring about an end to the occupation and the creation of a united, secular, socialist Palestine.
