Creating Sustainable Communities through Regeneration

The Conference of the Isles will take place 31 May – 1 June 2006 in the Hillgrove Hotel, County Monaghan, Ireland. The conference is organised in association with the University of Ulster and the main theme will be ‘The Regeneration Game – Creating Sustainable Communities through regeneration.’ Happening has been appointed as the event organisers for the conference. Between 150-200 delegates are expected to attend to listen to internationally renowned speakers and discuss various aspects of modern day housing in the British Isles.

Regeneration is vital to the development of all aspects of housing. It covers a wide variety of topics, such as poverty, unemployment and health and safety. The Conference of the Isles 2006 aims to address these topics and move them forward through the avenues of discussion and debate.

The conference will attract representatives from the following:
Government Officials
Councillors and Public Representatives
Practitioners in local/municipal authorities, statutory agencies
Housing Associations and registered social landlords
Academic and Housing Students
Tenant and Community Representatives
Developers, consultants and service providers
Building societies, banks and other financial institutions
Anyone interested in the development of housing regeneration

Designed to motivate and encourage innovative thinking, the conference will give delegates an excellent opportunity to network with like-minded professionals and take away knowledge that will assist them in everyday duties. The conference will also offer advice and good practice examples from a range of credible and influential speakers. Topics of discussion will include Regeneration, Creating Inclusive Communities, the role of the voluntary sector and their contribution to community cohesion.ole
