Statement on Human Rights Violations in Oaxaca, by Family of Brad Will

category international | crime and justice | other press author Thursday November 09, 2006 14:06author by C Murray Report this post to the editors

Letter and links

"We urge an inquiry into the extent to which higher level officials in the
state government of Oaxaca have been involved in Brad's Murder and other
human rights violations.

We also condemn and seek an immeadiate end to the illegitimate arrests
and ongoing harassment of the press corps in Oaxaca".

http://nyc.indymedia.org/en/2006/11/79073.html

The letter goes on to refer to the campaign by Reporters without Borders to call
Governor Ulises Ruiz Ortiz to account over the put-down of the APPO and the
press who were covering the story.

There is to be an international day of action on November the 20th.

Meanwhile in DC, President Elect of Mexico, Felipe Calderon was confronted by
Protestors at the Ritz Hotel:

The Second Murder of Brad Will:- Carlos Figueras

"Brad Will will have to wait for justice. His assassins will be looked for within the
popular movement of Oaxaca, while the true guilty are exonerated. The Government of Mexico
presented results of the investigation made into the murder of our companion Brad that
try to blame members of the APPO as those who assasinated Brad"

(Check out the photo-)

Calderon who becomes president by studiously avoiding the 700 mile fence
between Mexico and the States did say that the biggest threat to Mexico was the
APPO- (emergent democratic movements always threaten the status quo).

However he also studiously avoids the 7 week protest in Mexico City and the
brutality of the Ulises Ruiz regime.

Mexico Confirms Oaxaca Violations:

98 Political Abductions.
93 Arrests.
15 deaths.
The Practice of Political torture.

'enough elements to impeach Governor Ulises Ruiz, secretaries Eduardo Medina andCarlos Abaca'.

Mexico has ignored these violations and blamed the APPO -until now......
