From Barbie to the Life of Brian, the Irish Political scene has become a myriad of inadequate Christmas presents. A look at the plasticity of the Irish political scene in the run up to the general election. When voters go the poll stations in Ireland sometime after May Day they will seemingly be met by many choices. In reality however, Irish politics has descended into an uninteresting tale of mediocrity. |

Jump To Comment: 1Well it's the nature of politicians to be wanted. The 'I won't vote, f**k them!' attitude would work swimmingly for Fianna Fail, because you can be sure all the self interested property investor types will be waiting on the polls to open, listening to the radio to see how their investments will fare, depending on who gets in.
I don't believe in the 'better in than out' ethos. Labour were wrong to shack up with Fianna Fail jnr. The P.D's, the obstinate step child of Fianna Fail will probably creep in with somebody else, if only to show Daddy Bertie. However, not voting is never a good idea.
And don't kid yourself, no major party really gives a toss about what the youth or other minoritiy groups want....maybe if they voted?..hmmm
