Justin Trudeau wants to prorogue Parliament to buy time before the election. Voters will punish him for it, says Prof James Allan, but it's a mistake he must be allowed to make without activist judges getting in the way.

Jordan Peterson should make his mind up about Christianity, critics say. Prof James Alexander disagrees: he's a profound Jungian explorer who wants to help a secularised world see why Christianity still matters.

Latin American Women Law-makers find strength in Unity

category national | gender and sexuality | other press author Wednesday May 02, 2007 20:00author by C Murray Report this post to the editors

Anti-globalisation

This is a link to a story published on one of the Women's sites in October 2006,
by a Polish activist and rights campaigner.

She was delighted with the ability of women to work in unity over shared areas
of concern which normally would not be in their political interests, but
the results of globalised economy and cultural debasement had made the interests
of unity pertinent to all the women who worked together.

The image is of campaigners who worked on justice for the dissappeared in
Guatemala, their campaign against debasement is ongoing.

Thousands of left-wing activists had dissappeared in Guatemala and the files
are going to be opened , one woman remembers being a seven year old child
and being tortured, her mother was made watch as the guards dipped her head
into a basin and laughed telling her 'look at what we are doing to your kid'.

She is alive and still trying to find her mum's body.

There are many stories of this type coming from the campaigners in the photo,
the survivors and their families. It is the result of the ruin of their culture to
further profit and the put-down of opposition to that debasement.

The story on the unity movement is at:-

http://www.ipsnews,net/news.asp?idnews=34852

It is an interesting example of how unity is achieved and was begun by women.
There are many groups all over the globe including isis women in Manila
and anti-globalisation women in Africa who speak out at abuse. They are not famous
and generally make the news, only after they have been arrested, murdered or imprisoned.

The effects of globalisation are felt too in this culture and are indicated in
policies that are anti- community, anti-heritage and in the debasement of the
individual for profit or power.

We sit and watch the Nurses being isolated by the unions, or the isolation of
the people of Rossport, or the destruction of Tara and do not understand that it is
symptomatic of a global debasement of values. Wherin democracy is sacrficed
to the centrist politics of those interested in power and the individual's rights is
sacrificed to a one size fits all ignorance of basic humanity.

its a good link- will add in the Guatemalan struggle later.
