Jordan Peterson should make his mind up about Christianity, critics say. Prof James Alexander disagrees: he's a profound Jungian explorer who wants to help a secularised world see why Christianity still matters.

Mark Zuckerberg's repudiation of Covid-era censorship is welcome. But it's not enough, say Josh Stylman and Jeffrey Tucker. Without a public reckoning they will just do it all again when a cause seems urgent enough.

'An instruction from civilisation to barbarism'

Not listening to the Iranians

This is a response to the recent address to Ahmadinejad by Lee Bollinger, President of Columbia University and the media coverage it subsequently had.

The hypocrisy of Bollinger's speech was breathtaking. Noam Chomsky describes the speech as 'depraved' in comments he gave us for our latest media shot.

Three quick points on some of the comments on the links.

1. Many liberals, democrats, trade unionists, secularists and socialists joined the Khomeini’s revolution in 1978/9 because they thought nothing could be worse than the Shah. They were wrong - bad and all as the Shah was the Mullahs were a lot more oppressive and bloody.

2. The US should not have interfered in Tehran in 1953 but it does not have to be gone over again every time there is a dispute between Iran and the US. We are where we are and 1953 was aeons ago in this context. 1953 has nothing to do with Lee Bollinger.

3. Homosexuality is in fact widespread in Saudi Arabia and there is a thriving scene but it is underground and tolerated as long as it is discrete. There is no such toleration in Iran and the penalties are barbaric.

So Miriam what you are saying is that American newspaper editors are gullible and feed the masses to make them even more gullible ?

I had often wondered why so many Americans are seem ignorant of the worlds current affairs and now I know why.

Thank you

You're very welcome. Happy to oblige.

Missing the point though. Now see if you can figure out what we are really about :-)
