Zionist Poison Spreader Set To Win UK Weblog Awards

category international | anti-war / imperialism | other press author Thursday January 08, 2009 16:20author by Miriam Report this post to the editors

Stop Melanie Phillips!

Help needed to prevent this rabid Zionist from being handed a propaganda coup

A Medialens poster who is one of the finalists in the UK weblog awards (he won it last year) has pointed out that Ms Phillips is currently looking fair set to win this year's awards. For a taste of her take on the Gaza situation read this charming little piece

'Neil' is looking for any support he can get for his anti war blog but is more concerned to stop Phillips whose insufferable crowing if she gets it can only be imagined. It will also be a slap in the face to the suffering people of Gaza and to all who know that this is actually a massively unpopular assault. Its just a few clicks away to register a vote and might be worth voting tactically at this stage.

Here's what Neil said on Medialens:

"Dear friends,

My anti-war blog
http://www.neilclark66.blogspot.com/
is on the shortlist for the Best UK Blog in the 2008 weblog awards. It won the award last year, but this year I'm up against Melanie Phillips and she has established a large lead.

There's no doubt that her supporters will claim that a Phillips victory is a sign of public support for Israel's invasion of Gaza- just see some of the comments underneath Phillip's appeal for support in The Spectator.

You can vote here:

"The day before yesterday it was a crowded mosque at prayer. Yesterday, it was an ambulance. Today those oh so 'moderate' Israelis- you know the ones who, according to Melanie Phillips and other Zionist propagandists, are defending 'civilisation' by invading Gaza, excelled themselves. They bombed not just one, but two schools.

In Jabaliya, at least 41 people died when Israeli tanks shelled a UN school - a school which the UN insists was clearly marked. Earlier three young men – all cousins – died when the Israelis bombed another UN school, the Asma primary school in Gaza City. And as if this was not enough, at least 12 members of an extended family, including seven young children, were killed in an air strike on their house in Gaza City.

When is the world going to say 'enough is enough' an order an immediate and unconditional Israeli withdrawal from Gaza? And then make sure that those responsible for such crimes against humanity answer for their crimes? "

Anyone who can read knows the truth of what actually happened at the start of the 2000 intafada, but here she is with the rabidly propagandist version :

" And the 2000 Intifada which killed thousands of Israelis was the Palestinians’ response to being offered more than 90 per cent of the West Bank and Gaza for a state of their own. "

A glance at Wikipedia would tell her that 726 Israeli civilians killed by Palestinians.

Look at her profile here on Wikipedia and it becomes clear that the woman is another Jewish person who has idiotically donned the mantle of the Facist State of Israel and in doing so brings disrepute on the Jewish community when she peddles such atrocious lies and Zionist Myths and attributes them to all Jews.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melanie_Phillips

But what can one say, for the time being this is the way the world is. The Palestinians are learning now that if anything has changed over the last sixty years it has been for the worst.

"Actually, scrap that. Vote for Created in Birmingham instead. Never heard of them before, but they seem to have the best chance of preventing mad borderline racist Daily Mail columnist Melanie Phillips from winning."

More of Phillips viciously twisted take on Israel from a 2005 diary entry on her blog:

http://www.melaniephillips.com/diary/archives/001287.html

Phillips is especially fond of casuistry around the expulsion of Palestinians from their lands in 1948. A couple of simple questions suffice to debunk her manic, rabid self-delusion: were Palestinians required to give up their homes in 1948? Yes. Were they forced to move outside the territory where they had been living for generations? Yes.

Her other favourite theme is citing the British Mandate as an authority for the establishment of a Jewish state. !*@! What the hell were the British doing there anyway! And who the hell are they to tell the Palestinians what they must or must not do on their own land - or where they may or may not live? Not a qaulm for Phillips about any of that, such is her contempt for Arab and Palestinian autonomy.

Phillips also complains of Arab hostilities towards the violently imposed new 'state' of Israel in 1949 - conveniently forgetting the horrors of what had preceded that from Ben Gurion and all of the other terrorists who set out take the Palestinian lands from their people by violence. And indeed also conveniently overlooks the voraciously unjustified religious dogma which is the basis for their claim to those lands. By the same token every Catholic in the world, as descendants of the Jews could eqully lay claim to the territory as it was the home of Jesus Christ - the place where it all began and where Christians were also persecuted. And then where would we all be? The Muslims too have ancient religious history in the same region.

I've been convinced for a long time that there are no wars in which religion is truly the direct cause of the problem. But the war on Palestine is possibly the one exception arising as it does almost exclusively from the lunatic fanaticism of extremist Jews, exploited and encouraged in equal measure by US and other oil capitalists.

Phillips' diatribes are also routinely laced with racist caricatures which depict Arabs as addicted to violence when the viciousness of Israel's record stands plain for all to see -not least in this latest round of God-endorsed ethnic cleansing - or so they would have us believe. The massively uneven death tolls, the illegal settlements - none of these things has apparently registered on Phillips selectivey configured radar.

She knows full well too, what the role of the US has been and what their real aims are. Without their strategic and economic interest in the region the lunatic Zionist fringe would never have been taken seriously by anyone else. In all probability most of the Christian fundamentalists who have staffed the Bush administration are probably still nastily racist about Jewish people. But they need them for the oil and the access, so the prejudice has been buried - for the time being. Once the Zionists have served their purpose, watch that space.

Melanie Phillips is either one of the most brazen liars in the Zionist cause or she is an irredeemably stupid woman. I hope people will take time to ensure she does not win this weblog award.

Thanks for pointing that out. I wasn't aware that Clark supports capital punishment and from his blog it seems that he does - it's very inconsistent with his position on almost everything else - and at odds with all of the posts and writing Ive seen from him on ML. I will certainly register my opposition to his position on that issue:

http://neilclark66.blogspot.com/

But it's still important to stop Phillips from winning this award - especially at this time - there are several others to choose from so people don't have to vote for anyone they don't feel comfortable about. Use the links in the original post to register your votes.

or are we running with the herd now?

author by Miriampublication date Fri Jan 09, 2009 11:04author address author phone Report this post to the editors

My experience of Clark has been exclusively through the MediaLens message board from which he has linked to his blog many times on mainly anti-war and media issues and wherein I have never once seen anything of this sort supported or promoted - but then capital punishment was never the subject of any of those posts. I am a volunatry, not for profit worker just like the moderators of this site. As with them, I too can make mistakes and cannot be aware of all of what everyone may think all of the time - and besides I prefer to consider what people say in the context of specific issues rather than demanding of them that agree with everything I believe myself beorfe Im prepared to work with or support them.

Anyway, here is Clark's response to the points raised above:

"My views are an open book- don't go to my wikipedia page to get them- it's regularly edited by malicious individuals trying to quote me out of context and ascribe to me positions which I have never espoused- but have a read of my blog

http://neilclark66.blogspot.com/

and my other writings for other publications.

I have opposed not only the Iraq war, and Israel's brutal assault on Gaza, but also the war in Afghanistan and I was one of a tiny number of journalists to oppose the NATO aggression against Yugoslavia in 1999. If you're not going to vote for me because I support capital punishment for the likes of Iain Huntley - then fair enough, that's your choice. The vast majority of the British public support capital punishment for murderers- and if we are really in favour of democracy- as I hope all Media Lens readers are- we should respect their wishes.

I have made the socialist case for capital punishment on numerous occasions- and it is, I think a very strong one. Keeping child killers like Iain Huntley alive is not, in my book, a socialist cause, if you think it is, then feel free to vote for someone else. If you do think keeping Iain Huntley alive is a socialist cause and something ML should be taking an interest in, I'd be happy to hear your arguments.

Best wishes,
Neil "

That's quite a different position to the stuff on wikipedia. There are many here who would defend the right of Gazans to armed resistence and self defence. I believe Neil's support for capital punishment in the sort of circumstance he describes is comparable, though I don't support it myself - not least because innocent people can and do end up being killed and also because it does nothing to prevent further crime that incarceration would not achieve equally. And most murderers are victims themselves in any case - usually of abuse and neglect of one kind or another. But then none of us has a monopoly on knowing for sure what is right or wrong.

Be all of the above as it may, or not, the purpose of this thread was to stop Phillips - there are other people to choose from besdies Clark - it would be a great shame if this Zionist extremist were to win this prize especially at this moment in time. The UN have just stitched the Gazans up completely with a Resolution that is being spun as a call for an end to the hostilities, but, as mentioned in another thread is really a gift to Israel to continue as they see fit in Gaza. With so many lies and distortions currently in circulation about Hamas, the weblog award if it goes to her will suggest that most people believe the zionists, when in fact they do not. Please vote for whoever you feel you can.

I'm sorry, but that doesn't really cut it. Neil Clark confirms that he supports capital punishment and not even right-wing Tories agree with him on that.

He holds extreme right-wing views too on immigration which he pretends are left-wing. http://www.thefirstpost.co.uk/45957,opinion,dutch-socia...ation

He also seems to believe that the Srebrenica massacre of Muslims was between a quarter and half the accepted figure. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2004/feb/12/warcrimes.c...mment

He says, "The legalisation of homosexuality has not been the end of the chapter, but merely the beginning, with an aggressive "gay rights" lobby demanding more and more concessions."

Do you oppose Melanie Phillips winning the weblog awards? THAT was the purpose of this thread. If skewering me is your objective because I was not aware of Clark's support for capital punishment, then enjoy yourself as you will but you are not doing people in Gaza any favours by derailing this thread into an attack on me. I'm very happy to be excoriated in any way you might have in store for me, so long as we can get back to the point of stopping the Zionist HERE NOW. But can we please relocate my public flogging to another thread? Please - for the sake of stopping this horrible person from winning this award?

(You may be interested to visit the Media Lens message board where Clark has also come under a lot of fire (as a result of me having alerted them to his support for capital punishment - thank you for pointing it out) from people there who, like me, had understood him to be a commited anti-war poster - which he undoubtedly is. Many of the people on the thread are seriously active socialists, writers, journalists and all of them too were unaware of this side of Neil's philosophy. I will post your last message there too because these other things that you are now talking about are also news to me. I would say however, that some proportion is called for here: I'd wager that many people posting here had parents who opposed abortion, homosexuality and so forth. It didnt mean we didnt like and love them all the same, however much we disagreed with them. And it certainly didnt mean that we had compromised our own principles by being prepared to see what was good in them. No doubt they were doing the same for us. Paint Neil Clark up as some sort of hateful human being if you will, from your superior vantage point. You have a duty to be fair about him, however mistaken you or I might feel he is. There is also a genuine and decent side to his activism. )

Phillips is a war criminal - consciously advocating the death of children - even accusing them of wanting to die by Israeli bombs and weaponry - of actually inviting it. The urgency of what is happening in Palestine - where the children she is being so vile about are dying as we post here - caused me to make unconscious assumptions in posting this thread based on my former knowledge of Neil Clark. You are right of course, I should have been more careful. I acknowledge his anti war activism about which he is clearly as genuine as anyone, but agree that there is too much there that I disagree with to vote for him. My intention was to stop Phillips - not to support the death penalty, homophobia etc - I profoundly disagree with his stance on those matters - and cannot understand why anyone can be pro-death penalty and pro-life at the same time. Neil has had a very critical reaction on Medialens where I was able to alert people to his views because of your posts here - so was able to minimise any equally inadvertent support in the weblog award from that source too. As I mentioned above, there are quite a few people there who were equally surprised and taken aback - these other issues seem so massively at odds with his principled stance against the war. I'm off to the Palestinian protest in Cork now, which starts at 1.00. If anyone is interested and is living in or near Cork, it's at Daunt Square.

The good news, as Val Joyce has pointed out above, Phillips is now behind by about 30 votes so it is still pretty close - we need as many people as possible to make sure she does not squeeze home with it. As Val says:

"You can vote here: http://2008.weblogawards.org/polls/best-uk-blog/

Speak directly to the IDF and tell them what you think about what they're doing!

The Israeli army has spread flyers in the air in Gaza that give a number for Palestinians to call to report on Hamas activities.

Here is the number. Everyone is invited to call it to protest the war on Gaza instead.

+972-2-5839749

From the U.S. you dial:

011-972-2-5839749

YOU CAN ALSO SKYPE IT (+972-2-5839749) !!! I just did it and told him that the IDF is killing children and innocents and that there is only a political solution to the conflict !

THEY SPEAK ARABIC AND ENGLISH !

I encourage others to make the call sooner rather than later because surely they'll change the number once these kinds of calls start coming in.

Melanie Phillips is a war criminal - a prominent, active defender of the terror state Israel in the UK who accuses Palestinian children of inviting Israel to kill them '(the women and children are especially good at this'). She is tireless in her efforts to distort the truth about Palestine and uses her considerable media influece for that purpose. Jonathan Freedland in the Jewish Chronicle (!) wrote an article a while ago titled 'The Danger of Melanie Phillips'

"But it was a sentence in Melanie’s January JC column that really got me going. “Individual Palestinians may deserve compassion,” she wrote, “but their cause amounts to Holocaust denial as a national project.” Read that line again. I have, along with the entire piece that preceded it. Think about what it means: that the Palestinian urge for national self-determination — their desire to have what we Jews yearned for so long, a homeland of our own where we might govern ourselves — is nothing more than a collective plot to deny Jewish suffering. So those Palestinians living under curfew and hemmed in by checkpoints aren’t angry about this hardship or desperate to throw off a 40-year occupation. No. Their shared desire, their national project, is to join David Irving in pretending that Hitler did not murder six million Jews. Of course, it follows that such people — a nation of neo-Nazis — deserve nothing, let alone a state of their own."

The full article here - Freedland makes a good job of exposing her for what she is. NB she is wheeled out by all the major UK media outlets routinely - 'the moral maze, Richard & Judy - whoever and whenever basically'. She has a high profile and if she wins this award it will be a monumental offence to the people of Gaza and Palestine.

http://www.jonathanfreedland.com/articles/archives/0003....html

NB - voting ends at 10.00pm tomorrow - there is obviously a lot of activity on the ukweblog award website and it is still slow to respond but Created in Birmingham now leads by approx 700. It's still touch and go given the potential number of internet voters.
