How should conservatives approach our woke institutions? Why, as all of public life has become politicised, is Parliament itself increasingly toothless? Watch Niall Gooch on all that and more.

"Data is the absolute truth," said Nigel Farage recently. "Oh Nige," says Joanna Gray, "don?t be so gullible." Data is like the kitchen drawer: an incoherent mass of things that seemed useful. What we need are principles.

In 2020 anyone claiming Covid was like influenza was branded a conspiracy theorist. Yet now we hear demands for masks and social distancing for flu. But asymptomatic spread is a myth for flu as well, says Dr Clare Craig.

The CO2 emissions of a long-delayed and over-budget 'green' Scottish ferry will be far larger than that of the old diesel ship it is set to replace. Once again the benefits of a 'green' technology are hugely oversold.

Bomb a Ghetto, Raise a cheer: Pro-Israel rally in NY

category international | anti-war / imperialism | other press author Saturday January 17, 2009 00:21author by gazasympathiser Report this post to the editors

From Max Blumenthal's blog

On January 11, an estimated 10,000 people rallied in front of the Israeli consulate in midtown New York in support of Israel’s attack on the Gaza Strip. The rally, which was organized by UJA-Federation of New York and the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York in cooperation with the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, featured speeches by New York’s most senior lawmakers. While the crowd was riled to righteous anger by speeches about Hamas evildoers, the event was a festive affair that began and ended with singing and joyous dancing.

His video has to be seen to be believed!

Sen. Chuck Schumer highlighted Israel’s supposed humanitarian methods of warfare by pointing to its text messaging of certain Gaza Strip residents urging them to vacate their homes before Israeli forces bombed them. “What other country would do that?” Schumer shouted from the podium.

Then Paterson highlighted the anti-Semitism that has followed in the wake of Israel’s attack on Gaza, highlighting the beating of a teen-age girl in France. “This kind of anger and hatred spreads like a disease,” Paterson said, “and one thing I've always pointed out is there's no place for hate in the Empire State.”

But hatred was plentiful at the rally Paterson addressed.

Right in front of the stage, a man held a banner reading, “Islam Is A Death Cult.”

Rally attendees described the people of Gaza to me as a “cancer,”

called for Israel to “wipe them all out,” insisting,

“They are forcing us to kill their children in order to defend our own children.”

A young woman told me, “Those who die are suffering God’s wrath.”

“They are not distinguishing between civilians and military, so why should we?”

said a member of the group of messianic Orthodox Jewish Chabad-Lubavitch group that flocked to the rally.

No one I spoke to could seem to find any circumstance in which they would begin to question Israel’s war. No number of civilian deaths, no displays of extreme suffering -- nothing could deter their enthusiasm for attacking one of the most vulnerable populations in the world with the world’s most advanced weaponry. There are no limits, no matter what Israel does, no matter how it does it.

Some of these people are obnoxious, others very deluded. The later group may be unaware of the dirty tricks the Israeli state plays when it comes to ceasefires.

However, one of the speakers may have a point regarding anti-Semitism in the ake of the Israeli attacks.

The only way to combat that is to constantly highlight those Jews, including Mr.Blumenathal, who activly campaign against Israeli criminality. There are loads, and they are cool!Shalom, brothers.

I've a Muslim friend who was saying some time back he didn't like Jews. Normally he's not at all political, but the whole Palestine thing had him mad, and thus coming to wrong conclusions. So I told him about those righteous Jews, and he was happier, though a little surprised.

Spread the good news about those Jews.

Likewise with Muslims. Acording to the Koran, a Muslim should not make music using an instrument. He should only use his voice, and should only sing verses from the Koran.

If Islam is such a totalitarian danger, why is that the only Muslim country to adhere to this law was Afghanistan under the Taliban? From what I can see, Arabs, the very people who founded that religion, cannot help but play music with flutes and keyboards and all kinds of things.

You can also buy beer in Morocco, Indonesia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Jordan, Syria, Egypt, and a few other Muslim countries.

So people. Stop giving Jews and Muslims a hard time.

Gazasympathiser what is your point? 10,000 demonstrated in favour of Israel. Is this the first time there has ever been a demo in favour of a state or government at war? No, they are quite frequent occurrences throughout history.

Is this the first time that people have uttered xenophobic, inhuman and irrational comments about people they perceive to be enemies in a war? No, again this is a common feature of war.

These type of views were held and expressed by the British public in the two world wars against the Germans and the Japanese.

US soldiers carried out barbaric atrocities in Vietnam. Look what the Serbs did in Bosnia, what the Croats who collaborated with the Nazis did to the Serbs.

War is barbaric. Soldiers on all sides carry out atrocities. Populations are whipped up into frenzied hatred of the "enemy", xenophobia is rampant. That's what happens in all wars. 90% of Americans supported Bush going to war against Iraq. Islamophobia was widespread across the US, Britain and Europe. Some sections of the population wanted revenge and supported the murdered of innocent Iraqis. Some people in Britain cheered and celebrated when the Belgrano was sunk.

This is what happens in war. It happens in most wars, and not everyone is guilty of these views or attitudes, but some are and their nationality or religion has nothing to do with it.

I don't remember similar postings like this about the war in Iraq or other recent wars. So why Gazasympathiser have you put up this posting. I wouldn't like to think it was because the people who utter these contemptuous views were Jews!

Excellent video, really exposes how seemingly ordinary people can find twisted logic in horrific acts of barbarism and brutality.
Shocking stuff.
