Labour Party completes its transition to the party of scabs

category national | worker & community struggles and protests | other press author Friday February 06, 2009 02:45author by Aragon Report this post to the editors

Just when they are they needed the most

Gilomre to kick the workers and unions off the ladder behind him, put a rose between his teeth and flutter his eyelids flirtatiously at whoever will have Labour for a cheap bed partner in government.

Today's Irish Times eulogises Eamon Gilmore for his plans to put the last knife in the body of Union/Labour relationship. Gilmore is now, like all Labour leaders before him for the last 20 years, a trusted member of the one-of-us club:

Talk about preparing for government. Between the Green Party and the Labour Party, Irish people have seldom had so much evidence of how utterly despicable the political class is about respecting their electoral mandate. WHERE is the anger?

My experience is that individual members of the Labour Party are more progressive and left-wing than the sycophantic Trade Union leaders such as Des Geraghty who can’t do enough for the establishment in order to prove he is house trained.

Gilmore will inevitably fail as his measure of success is how the right-wing feature writers of Madame Editor judge him and not, as it should be, how he improves ordinary lives.

esp after Gilmore said it was dead after we defeated them the last time. Labour Party members must be feeling pretty sick at the prospect.

Whats the feckin alternative? Labour are down the drains (with the greens) as far as I'm concerned....

Time for some radical action! FIGHT THESE CUTBACKS, RISE UP.

Its been obvious for quiet a while that Labour and the Greens have no motivation to change anything.
I think we need to get behind the true agents of change in this country, the Socialist Movement, ie Workers Socialist Party, Workers Solidarity Movement etc. I've been to one meeting each of both parties recently-they are very different from the main political parties in this country and are very open and encourage participation by the ordinary people of this country. Only by the mass participation of the people will this country be transformed.

I agree, It is definitely abuot time for radical change!
By way of clarification-the workers solidarity movement is not a political party. It is an Anarchist Socialist movement and as such advocates socialism combined with true grassroots Democracy. Socialism with freedom is the way forward!! Check out the link below!
