Garda Overtime.

Gardai in Mayo's overtime boost over Shell

Five officers earned €325,111 in payments as the cost of policing protest against gas pipeline proved expensive for force

According to todays Sunday Times.

The garda overtime bill in Co Mayo,

One Mayo officer earned €80,990 in overtime in 2008 this is incredible what did he do to deserve that obscene amount of money save the rotten Anglo Irish Bank, nothing so brave as that just physically abusing peaceful protesters. And they are complaining over having to pay the pension levy. Our Minister for Justice Mr.D.Aherne is indeed a very liberal and generous, guy with the taxpayers money. However times have changed dramaticaly and the Gardai may also find themselves down on their hands and knees like the rest of us looking for the few crumbs that are left after the Great Hijacking of our Country, and now they want to take the few crumbs back that we do find. Do something decent and get the vipers, and scumbags that have brought our Country into Disrepute and disgrace and jail them but that is to big an order for a crowd of Yes men. Dont take it out on the people who are trying to secure the future of this country and that of its citizens.

The Gardaí are buzzing around Rossport and Bellanaboy like flies, busily harrassing locals, tourists, blow-ins, Campers, hikers and visitors without justification, and creating hazards on the roads. There is no excuse for stopping a safe driver on a combined junction and blind bend, except harrassment, abuse of power, and stupidity.

I seem to recall reading that about 8 million has been spent policing for Shell, is this correct?
