J.D. Vance is right to tell Britain and Canada they're stagnating due to mass immigration, says Professor James Allan. And that's without even considering the massive social upheaval and increase in crime.

Report from Gaza Solidarity Vigil in Scariff

category clare | rights, freedoms and repression | news report author Thursday January 07, 2010 15:47author by Kev - IPSC (pers cap) Report this post to the editors

Report by Grainne V: On December 31st 2009, 18 people gathered together on Scarriff Bridge to remember the over 1,400 Palestinians in Gaza who were killed by the Israeli Army last year and to stand in solidarity with the survivors of that attack, cynically named 'Operation Cast Lead'. We were one of many groups nationwide who met on bridges around the country at the same time as 1,400 internationals attempted to cross into Gaza through the Rafah crossing from Egypt bringing much-needed aid and solidarity.

We also wanted to draw attention to the fact that Gaza has been under siege now for 3 years and, so far, no aid has been allowed over the border, thus preventing any rebuilding of homes or infrastructure.

There was a lot of interest from passers-by on the bridge and much honking of horns from supportive passing motorists. On such a cold day with dangerous road conditions we were happy that so many people took time out to remember our Palestinian brothers and sisters who need our support so badly.

(Kev: Thanks to everyone who organised and came along to the vigil!)
