British Intelligence Agencies Intensify Anti-republican Campaign - RNU

category national | rights, freedoms and repression | press release author Thursday September 09, 2010 23:23author by Ardoyne Republican - Republican Network for Unity (RNU) Report this post to the editors

REPUBLICAN NETWORK for UNITY (RNU) Spokesperson, MARTIN ÓG MEEHAN has highlighted a serious intensification of sinister anti-Republican activities across the Six Counties by British Intelligence Agencies and the RUC/PSNI.

REPUBLICAN NETWORK for UNITY (RNU) Spokesperson, MARTIN ÓG MEEHAN has highlighted a serious intensification of sinister anti-Republican activities across the Six Counties by British Intelligence Agencies and the RUC/PSNI.

Mr. Meehan said; ‘In recent weeks, members of legitimate pressure groups and political organisations have been subjected to British state surveillance such as phone tapping and vehicle tracking.

Clearly the war of attrition against Republicans and their families continues, based solely on their beliefs. Political activists, including RNU members are being stopped and searched on an almost daily basis. Their homes have been violently raided with no just cause, partners and children left terrified, and others approached to become informers for the British Crown. This unwarranted harassment cannot and must not continue’.

Mr. Meehan concluded; ‘Our Network will not be deflected from politically opposing partition and further erosions of our national sovereignty. RNU call on civil liberty groups to defend the rights of Irish citizens and political groups’.

Aye Tumble weed.
Plus 99% of people in the South do not give a shit about the North and practically speaking do not care if it is reunited unless it brings them some personal benefit.
99% of people in the North just want to live in peace and put the past behind them and move on. Still a lot or Republican minded folks there but they have long since realised that armed struggle is only detrimental to reunification now, which will come about over time through political and economic shifts. Every bomb planted, bullet fired, school pipe-bombed, shop destroyed, shop owner intimidated not to sell to the cops and the like just stirs up bad feeling and sets the cause back that little bit further every time. Unfortunately some can not or just plain refuse to let it go and insist on keeping the conflict fueled and would rather put their stupidity or their bloody mindedness before the cause which they claim to fight for. Lets hope they wise up.

have to agree there with ya dessie ireland has seen too much trouble and strife, there is always someone affected that is either a relative or a friend or living with it..time it was put to an end altogether, given the real oppurtunities that were presented to many..

as far as i'm concerned, they can do all the phone tapping and vehicle tracking they want, if it means putting those willing to kill for their visions of unity out of business.

their continual categorising of the psni as the RUC is childish and indicative of the timewarp they live in.

wow, some really short sighted comments there from some posters below. Please dont speak for me, i like my freedoms and privacy, and like most socialists, republicans and other activists i am not violent or agree with violence to achieve my aims, unlike the british state which has and continued to use whatever means necessary to achieve what it wants, in ireland, iraq, afghanistan and elsewhere

British Intelligence agents in Ireland have indirectly murdered countless Irish citizens - they are criminals of the highest order with not one of them ever imprisoned or held to account for murdering Irish civilians - they are the only people on this island that can go out and murder Irish citizens at will and never get arrested or be imprisoned - now isn't that unbelievable!

I am a peaceful Irish civilian, I want peace for Ireland, but I know as long as we have an unwanted foreign army occupying our 6 counties with British intelligence agents secretly murdering Irish citizens and abusing others civil rights (as stated here); and with no definite plan for the departure of the British army, I know in my heart there will never ever be peace in Ireland - that's the painful reality.

There will never be an everlasting peace until British imperialist war machine removes itself permanently from Ireland or at least puts a plan in place for its removal - they have no right to be here and they will never have a right to be here - British armed forces should get the hell out of here, if they have an interest at all in promoting everlasting peace (I doubt they really want peace, as then they would be out of a murderous job!).

"There will never be an everlasting peace until British imperialist war machine removes itself permanently from Ireland or at least puts a plan in place for its removal"
Another over-simplified and romantic view of how Ireland can be at peace.
Yes and what do you think will happen if this were to happen or indeed in the run up to it?
Loyalist paramilatries would go on the offensive and start causing murder and mayhem.
Or do you plan to deport them as part of your plan or maybe buy them a wee island in the Bahamas somewhere where they can march around during the summer and hold their parades?

Aye the Antartic may suit all-right.
Practically no Protestants, very few English accents, no RUC/PSNI, no army would want to occupy any part of it an no OO wanting to march round it during the summer.
Mind you the march of the penguins might lead to the odd riot.
