The Intercept -the website setup by Glenn Greenwald and others this week publishes a new summary of intercept capabilities used by the NSA and Britain's GCHQ, this time covering how the intelligence agencies working on behalf of the surveillance state disrupt public discourse on the Internet and seek to control the Internet.

The revelations cover a range of surveillance tools that are used to spy and collect information and as well as to disrupt individuals computers and to attack websites using the very same tools that the same state has imprisoned hackers for. read full story / add a comment

The recent ebola outbreak is unprecedented yet little is being said about it in the media and little in the way of resources are being allocated to it's containment compared to what is being spent for example, in stoking up war in the middle east and Ukraine. The disease is highly contagious and kills 90% of those infected. read full story / add a comment

Partially fuelled, no doubt, by US and Saudi money and weapons supplied for the fight in Syria, ISIS, a branch of Al Qaeda has routed the Iraqi military in a series of offences across the country, taking control of significant parts of the country. These are the exact same people fighting for freedom and democracy with US and Saudi backing just across the border in Syria. The staggering cynicism of US policy in the middle east and the blatant doublespeak of their media is laid bare by these recent events in Iraq in the last few days. Paul Craig Roberts was an insider in the US government for years so he knows how things really work and what the real motivations and driving forces are for geopolitical actions on the world stage. Don't believe the propaganda guff from your TV news. In this article Paul lays bare in simple terms what's actually going on in Ukraine, with Russia, the G7 and the US, and he lays bare the lies propagated about the role of the US in the second world war and the deliberately sidelined but crucial role of 27 million russians who sacrificed their very lives to defeat Nazi Germany, versus only 450,000 US soldiers read full story / add a comment

More than 600 people live in these camps, which were won through constant migrant struggle after a long series of evictions. No solution has been proposed for the evicted migrants. Moreover, a social center and two further squats are up for eviction starting on May 30th. All told, more than 800 people will be put on to the street. read full story / add a comment

Recent research has found a link between the use of the Monsanto weed-killer Roundup which is used with all GM crops. It is used because the genetic material added to GM crops makes them resistant to Roundup. Normally any crop sprayed with too much weed killer not only kills the weeds but begins to kill the crop. The use of GM crops allows you to spray even more of the stuff.

Residues of Roundup has to be on and in the plants and this is where the research picks this up. read full story / add a comment

Looks as if the Ukrainian fascists are starting to outlive their shelf life. Just like the Brownshirts in The Night of the Long Knives they will be cut down by their masters. The hunter gets the bird, the dog that retrieves it gets a pat on the head, in the end a bullet in the head. Videos at he link below.

Notorious Ukrainian right-wing militant leader Aleksandr Muzychko, also known as Sashko Bilyi, has been shot dead during a police raid against his gang, confirmed Ukraine’s Ministry of Interior.

broadsheet.ie have put together a great timelline for the activities of Irish water thus far. It makes for very interesting reading. That is, If you are into reading about how our lords and masters and their capitalist friends are taking us for a ride at our own expense and the loss of what should be very basic state run services that should never be run as for profit services. Huge protests are taking place in Spain over bank bailouts of nearly 50 billion and subsequent crippling austerity measures imposed by the Spanish government on the Spanish people and jobless figures of 50% among the under 24 age group. The otherwise peaceful protest was marred at the end when a small group of masked youth engaged with police in violent scuffles. Very convenient and needless to say this is the subject matter of the first sentence in most MSM news reports read full story / add a comment

Patrick MacGill was born in 1889 in County Donegal Ireland. The same county as myself. He became known as the "Navvy Poet."This was after his work for a time as a "navvy", this term comes from working with a shovel building roads, the shovel was called a navvy shovel, something to do with navigating and the roads. Before he worked as a navvy he worked as a farm laborer, a ditch digger and a quarryman. He later fought as a young man in Flanders in the First World War. He became a poet and writer. Below are two of his poems. The first on his work as a navvy and how he saw society with its brutal class divide. The second on his experience in the trenches in Flanders in the imperialist war. read full story / add a comment
