The Folly of Starmer?s Surrender Summit ? Not so Much ?Ruthlessly Pragmatic? as Cravenly Sycophantic Mon May 19, 2025 07:00 | Tilak Doshi
The PM should not sign up the UK to comply with the EU?s Emissions Trading System. It?s legally questionable, could jeopardise the UK's recent trade deals and is linked to the now discredited Net Zero project.

[ the law has not been enacted yet- but the police are busy]
The verdict of suicide has not been returned.
Not for the first time I wonder why my respected colleague one of a few contributors with whom I share the pseudonym "obit" is so eager to jump to obituary before autopsy or investigation.
There have been calls for the resignation of Zbigniew Wassermann who is Poland's named and accountable head of secret security services (ireland is the only EU state not to have such a position you just trust Mc Dowell). He was as is normal in proper states answering questions from the Polish parliament on this case - especially as there have been a few different versions & a bit of irregular behaviour resulting in the death of a former minister.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zbigniew_Wassermann
The dead woman held a licensed fire-arm (Astra revolver) for self-protection - there has been a suggestion she died after a scuffle with the agents of the Agencja Bezpieczeństwa Wewnętrznego (ABW - Agency of Internal Security) who went to search her house with a search warrent in connection with corruption. Alas, selective leaking of that case which sees the Polish coal industry being investigated saw the main suspect Barbara Kmiecik credited with naming Barbara Blida.
I normally see such deaths through mis-adventure as classical "officer honourable discharges". It works this way - (do pay attention) if you have been important enough to sit close to the identifiable centre of a web of corruption which spans a totalitarian regime and nationalised industry with indisputed historical political importance you will have a firearm for self-protection. When the shite hits the fan &no-one ask you to surrender that gun - you're being given the option of a decent way out. Of course no-one ever chose that route in Ireland with one notable exception - a man who simply awaited his executioner and inquiry. He got one - we're still waiting on the other.
Mr Wassermann has resisted calls from all sides Poland's political spectrum to resign - but has told the Polish prime minster that the head of the Agencja Bezpieczeństwa Wewnętrznego (ABW - Agency of Internal Security) ought be suspended. The prime minster need not ask his twin brother the president for permission to do that.
Of course this all has to lead somewhere as the white rabbit said to Alice. Obit has sort of explained or hinted to you the reader & hopefully well integrated Polish migrant to Ireland. The new witch-hunt in Poland for "reds in the coal mines and estate agencies, seminaries and schools" will have a cut-off date. Attention now turns to this man Zbigniew Ziobro who was only a toddler then.
http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zbigniew_Ziobro
If there is more we can learn from this I hope one of our Poles will translate it.
The unfortunate woman reportedly died from a gunshot to the chest.
Usually gunshot suicide victims shoot themselves in the side of the head, roof of the mouth or under the chin and die instantly from destruction of the brain.
Of course someone can put the muzzle of the gun against their chest and pull the trigger but this could also have been a point blank shooting by another person.
Ye pick up a newspaper in a bus and add 1+1 and get 5.
R.I.P.
The Paper did not mention that she had been shot- prefferring instead the
'she committed suicide in her bathroom'-
will add in link later.

As 800 people converge from all over the world in Kerry for a Conference on suicide, perhaps somebody would like to consider this case.
