Modern politicians lack the personal authority of ancient kings and so they appeal to The Science to impose their schemes on the population. This is how science becomes corrupted by politics, says Prof James Alexander.

Exodus to Erris - Mobilise for the day of the Solitaires arrival!

category national | anti-capitalism | press release author Wednesday September 03, 2008 13:02author by Dublin Shell to Sea Report this post to the editors

Shells pipe-laying monster must be stopped, all hands on deck!

Dublin Shell to Sea in cooperation with other Shell to Sea groups and supporting organisations are mobilising for an exodus to Erris when the Solitaire begins its journey from Killybegs -
The people of Erris and Ireland need our support and solidarity to resist this latest stage of the theft of our natural resources and the siege of a community.
Coordinated travel from Dublin will be taking place.
Call 0872242731 to offer/request transport.
Mobilise for "Day X"
Mobilise for "Day X"

At present, the arrival of the giant pipe-laying ship, the Solitaire is imminent.

As the actions of the past few weeks have shown, there are many ways to disrupt this latest chapter of Shell and the State’s skulduggery in North West Mayo.
Protests on land and at sea, blockades of the compound and the Chief's stern refusal to remove his lobster pots have all scuppered Shells attempts to advance their project.
Shell are running out of time to put the Solitaire t use and we can delay this project if we can prevent them from doing so.

Dublin Shell to Sea in cooperation with other S2S groups are mobilising for an exodus to Erris once it is clear the Solitaire has begun its journey from Killybegs -
The people of Erris and Ireland need your support!

It is vital that all concerned individuals and organisations participate as much as possible to maximise the efficacy of protest against its operations.

Bring water proof gear, tents, wellies, torches, warm clothes, skills, food

Accomodation is available for those without tents.

Call 0872242731 to offer/request transport.

Solidarity protest will tke place in Dublin for those who cant make it into the West.

General -

Activists from all over Ireland and further afield have congregated and numbers have swelled, which when taken with the ever-defiant local community, has given Shell and its partners in crime a lot to think about.

We will never accept this project in its current form and we are committed to the original Shell to Sea aims which are as follows:

1) The refining of the gas on an offshore platform, negating the need for any raw gas high pressure pipeline, as recommended in 2002 by Mr. Kevin Moore, Senior Inspector with An Bord Pleanala who said simply that this was the 'wrong project in the wrong place' for many reasons.

2) The reclamation of the natural resources from the oil and gas companies and the reviewing of the current but outdated licensing and fiscal terms which amount to the 'Great Gas Giveaway', which means that the people of Ireland benefit nothing from the exploitation of Irish Natural Resources.

3) The restoration of civil liberties to citizens and supporters, and the defence & vindication of the rights of those engaged in the legitimate protest and opposition to the Shell Corrib Gas Project.

Shell to Sea is alive and well and fighting tooth and nail for the safety of this community and the natural resources of our country’s people.

Your help is needed!

There is a role for everyone, regardless of age, experience, availability and skill. The areas you can help with are endless and particularly in the fields of camp support, water based skills, legal, cooking, medical, media and of course direct action.

The atmosphere is resurgent in the area, with a fresh burst of confidence evident among both locals, national and international Shell to Sea activists. This is a golden opportunity to reinvigorate the fight against this project in a meaningful and effective way.

Come to Erris!

Just to reiterate, the Camp & locals need all sorts of help and work (you don't need to be a kayaker or rower!) - there's cooking, shopping, cleaning, gardening, managing, music, organising, 1st Aid, training, picketing, transport, networking, & publicity for instance, as well as donating & fundraising. If you can't get to Erris, then publicity, solidarity actions, & donations will be greatly appreciated. See some of you in Erris!

We'll be seein you there - don't let the bleeders ruin the homeland, it can't be replaced or mended once they start their pollution. Look what they done in Nigeria and Turkey.

I'm all ready for the exodus - let's take our chance to seriously disrupt Shell's work.

Any idea yet on the details for getting up there?
