Israel admits organ harvesting

category international | rights, freedoms and repression | other press author Monday December 21, 2009 11:04author by pat c Report this post to the editors

The Zionists are after your heart and your liver and your corneas...

The truth is out! Those who revealed that the Israelis were harvesting the organs of palestinians were denounced as anti-Semites. But now Dr Jehuda Hiss, former head of Israel's Abu Kabir forensic institute has admitted its true. The Israeli military say they stopped doing this a decade ago. Who would believe them? Full text at link.

Israel has admitted that in the 1990s, its forensic pathologists harvested organs from dead bodies, including Palestinians, without permission of their families. The issue emerged with publication of an interview with the then-head of Israel's Abu Kabir forensic institute, Dr Jehuda Hiss. The interview was conducted in 2000 by an American academic, who released it because of a huge controversy last summer over an allegation by a Swedish newspaper that Israel was killing Palestinians in order to harvest their organs. Israel hotly denied the charge.

In a response to the TV report, the Israeli military confirmed that the practice took place. "This activity ended a decade ago and does not happen any longer," the military said in a statement quoted by Channel 2. In the interview, Dr Hiss described how his doctors would mask the removal of corneas from bodies. "We'd glue the eyelid shut," he said. "We wouldn't take corneas from families we knew would open the eyelids."

And Hiss didn't admit it either. What Hiss said that till the 90's relatives of dead people weren't always asked for permission to use organs. It's not stealing organs and it's not killing people for their organs. That was the norm in many western countries back than - in some places this is the norm till today. Also, it was never organs such as liver, kidney & heart. It was corneas. The article in the swedish newspaper spoke about intern organs, and these were never taken, not in Abu Kabir and not anywhere else.

.....they harvested from Israeli's too, including soldiers.

They should have asked permission but it isn't really that terrible a thing.

do you both carry organ donor cards? if not, why not?

Fiery s, if it is not really that terrible a thing why did they deny it and cover it up for so long. They are a disgrace.

As a start, yes, I have a donor card. If I die I want others to live. I see no point in keeping my organs to rot while other people could live longer or better with them.
Second, It's not "the Israeli military". Abu Kabir is a pathologic institute. It belongs to the goverment and not to any arm of the Army. Wierd as it may sound, not everything in Israel has something to do with the Army.
Third - to your question, gerty, Israel denied the false claims of the Swedish newspaper, that were bad & unresponsible journalism (and also a proof of totaly ignorance: you can't kill people on battlefield and take intern organs from them. That's why the Chinese execute prisoners in special buses). What happened in Abu Kabir was exposed in 2004, and the man responsible for it (Hiss) was removed from his position. He is still employed there, because as it was said, while it's not right to take organs without permission, it is not a great crime. Not when you consider that regulations weren't that strict back than.

gab your moral compass is seriously twisted if you think stealing organs from dead bodies is not a serious crime. Its sick and twisted

author by Gabpublication date Sat Dec 26, 2009 13:48author address author phone Report this post to the editors

YOUR moral compass is twisted if you prefer that other people will be blind, as long as your corneas will be kept whole inside your dead body, only to rot within several days!

Life are sacred and must be kept at all cost. If my organs could save someone, and I'm dead anyway, I would be very happy to know that other people could keep living.
Killing people for their organs is awfully evil. And a murder.
Hasting someone's death inoreder to take his organs is highly evil. And a murder.
Harvesting organs from prisoners judged to death, the way the Chinese do, is highly dangerous, since it surely will lead to more death sentences inorder to get more organs.
Using corneas from dead people, that are allready dead, and failing to ask permission from their families is certainly not a good thing, and it shouldn't happen, but still, is not an awfull crime in my opinion. By the way, I've read and interview with this Hiss, he seems one of the full-of-themselves MDs. He is not a great manager, and the organs affair isn't his only fault. For example - the institute is very old and the use of formalin is dangerous for the worker's health. They got the money to repair the building, and to improve sanitary conditions, but Hiss decided to invest the money in rapairing the managers' offices, while leaving the working conditions as they were.
So you could understand that he is not a nice person.

Israeli police uncovers organ trafficking ring in north

Police on Tuesday arrested six men suspected of being involved in an organ trafficking ring in northern Israel. Among the suspects are an IDF reserves brigadier-general and two lawyers.

The department for fraud and misappropriation in northern Israel has been conducting an undercover investigation which began following a complaint by a 50-year-old woman from Nazareth, who replied to an advertisement in Arabic offering 100,000 dollars for a kidney.

The woman underwent medical examinations to ensure a match, and she was then flown a country in Eastern Europe where they extracted her kidney. The woman said that when she returned to Israel, she did not receive the money promised to her. Police say they have since received similar complaints.

Police also said that during the investigation they uncovered a large, very well-organized industry of organ trafficking. The ring includes organ traffickers, agents, and lawyers.

"The ring is operating throughout Israel and not only in the north, and appeals to the public through local media and internet," a police official said. "The organ traffickers somehow receive details about potential transplant candidates and they offer them their services," he said.
