Dan Boyle - I Cut The Dole

category cork | anti-capitalism | news report author Friday February 11, 2011 13:11author by Peter Sullivan - Electoral Honesty Commission Report this post to the editors

Cork strikes back for Honesty and Truth

Electoral Honesty Commission takes issue with Green Party's Dan Boyle

Dan Boyle, the financial spokesperson for the Green Party, is running in this general election on the platform: ‘Dan Boyle – Honest And True’. But whatever about the veracity of this claim and, let’s face it, politicians are well known for their exaggerations, there appears to be a clear loss of memory by Dan when it comes to owning up to his famous ‘achievements’. Like, for example, bringing the IMF in. Or, like cutting the dole. Or, like consigning a generation of Irish people to a future of emigration.
Dan Boyle - I Cut The Dole
Dan Boyle - I Cut The Dole

Dan’s website at www.danboyle.ie is worth a very brief examination if you are in any way demented by a sense of injustice (as we are here at the EHC). On it, you’ll find no mention of Dan’s sterling work to impoverish the poor of Irish society. Neither does Dan own up to the Greens’ ‘Tax the Needy To Feed the Greedy’ policy. On the contrary, in fact. On his site Dan lists his highpoints as: “He has published bills on the Reform of Public Appointments, Ethical Investment, Reform of the Presidential Office and the criteria for running for elections.” Like Dan, for flip sake! Come on now!

Another strange thing about Dan’s website. Go to Current Issues 2010. What will you see there ARE no entries at all for that year, only 2009! (Got a few calender problems there we think!) Anyway no entries says it all, we suppose. But does it? Here at the EHC we cannot understand why Dan has made no mention of his role in bringing the IMF to Ireland OR in signing the entire country up to a cast iron deal that means poverty for so many but not the rich in this society. That did happen in 2010, right? Let’s be honest and true now. Come on now Dan!

But anyway, to the photos. Corkonians have had enough. We can’t have one of our own carrying on like that, now. These amended posters were observed in Cork in the last few days. Truth will out as they say.

A little structural adjustment beats vandalising the posters.

Use THEIR resources to deliver YOUR disgust. Hit them all. Sometimes a little editing can tweak their print.

e.g. twitter.com can be reduced to just plain twit, 'honest' is very easily translated into 'hoi st' with a brushstroke and dot over the first upright of 'n'.

Get yer markers and spraycans out. And dont stop after the election. Hit every billboard or ad you find offensive.

Prizes for creative effort.(thats just an election promise).

Hi Opus !

This bus-shelter advertisement for Paul Gogarty , in the Cherrywood area of Clondalkin , was 'adjusted' by persons unknown to give a more accurate picture of Mr Gogarty's 'achievements' :

Thanks!
Sharon.

Vote for me, I robbed the blind.

That should cover just about the full shower that nodded the finance fix through.

Kenny now wants to hit the Fed for another 50bn. Guess where that will go. FG gave up yesterday when I asked the canvassing daughter(no doubt aiming at daddy's seat for a later score)would daddy work for the average wage. Impolite.

I've noticed stickers on John Gormley and Chris Andrews posters saying 'I voted to close St Luke's Hospital'.

This is the truth and oddly these two don't mention voting to close St Luke's Cancer Hospital in their newsletters detailing what they have done for you....

They are taking the stickers down even though they are put in blank space and not covering up the candidate's picture. But some are being replaced.

The Greens officially support freedom of information and have made noises about strengthening the FOI Act - but clearly when they do a dirty deed like voting to close a wonderful hospital, a success story of our public health service, and ignoring many representations from patients and their families, then FOI does not apply!

..they just gatecrashed the wrong party.

I might send them registration forms for mine. After all, they opposed military use of Shannon, til they got embedded on the payroll. They opposed the Shell-sell-out, till they got inside the centrally heated tent. And as the emigration figures climb and their heads go further up their arses in direct proportion, Gormley was making Valentine-eyes at Edna in the grate de-bait last night. Not sure if he just wants a civic relationship or the full nuptials. For an environmentalist party you might have expected them to keep one fucking toe in touch with the planet the rest of us have to inhabit.

As Lemass is reputed to have remarked about the opposition at some stage, ' A harmless bunch of gentlemen..'.

If only.

Further to my earlier post about John Gormley posters, he was on the Pat Kenny Show this morning and claimed that his posters have been defaced all over the constituency by supporters of St Luke's Cancer Hospital .

Since when did 'defacing' mean placing a small and TRUE statement (= I voted to close St Luke's hospital) on the blank space of a poster?

In his election literature he does not mention St Luke's at all. Surely his constituents have a right to know that he voted to close it though he was on record as wanting to save it from Minister Harney.

His statement is very unfair to the many supporters of St Luke's. My sister was a patient there. We need St Luke's - replacing it with an ugly outpatient centre at James's that doesn't even have catering for patients does nothing for cancer patients.

Gormley should read the Luke's Campaign book - Cancer in a Cold Climate: the shafting of St Luke's hospital and be very very ashamed.
