In May 2011, Marian Price was arrested after she held up a piece of paper on a windy day, at a traditional Easter commemoration from which a masked man read. She was taken to Maghaberry high security prison an all-male prison and was placed in solitary confinement, where Marian was accused of, ‘encouraging support for an illegal organisation’. Marian has now been in prison for 16 months, during which time neither her lawyers, or Marian have been allowed to see any of Britains ‘alleged’ evidence. Having been previously force fed 400 times by the British in an English prison and in considerable, ill health, distress with extreme pain as a result, she was taken ; read full story / add a comment

Main issue is defence of the right to publish

The issue of the anti-Muslim film and the grizzly torture, rape and murder of Ambassador Stevens is all about the right to freedom of speech, freedom to speak about anything, criticise anything.

Will people on the left, who think of themselves as left, such as on Indymedia Ireland and other groups in Ireland, now defend with everything they have got the maker of the film Nakoula Basseley Nakoula? read full story / add a comment

Things on the global Police State front get more frightening and ominous by the day. This latest announcement serves to underline that. The FBI has officially started rolling out a state-of-the-art face recognition project that will assist in their effort to accumulate and archive information about each and every American at a cost of a billion dollars. It is known as the Next Generation Identification (NGI) program. This report comes from Russia Today (rt.com) and quotes an article in New Scientist magazine. The project itself was announced back in 2005 and was part of a project to upgrade the existing Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS) that keeps track of citizens with criminal records across America. read full story / add a comment

The condemnation by Cllr Mac Donncha of the friends and family of Mr Alan Ryan, buried on Saturday 8th September following his brutal murder on the streets of Dublin on Monday 3rd September shows how low this former "republican party" have gone.

I am no supporter of the so-called "Reals" but it is morally disgraceful that SF attacked a community in mourniing.

How low can they continue to go? read full story / add a comment

"The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands ... is the definition of tyranny."

- James Madison

The power of the Executive to cast a man into prison without formulating any charge known to the law, and particularly to deny him the judgment of his peers, is in the highest degree odious and is the foundation of all totalitarian government whether Nazi or Communist.

BBC are up to their tricks again, censoring video which shows syrian rebels in a bad light, i.e. guilty of war crimes against geneva convention. This is not the first time they have monkeyed with reality of course. Back in May the BBC used a years-old photo of dead Iraqi children to depict victims of an alleged government assault in the town of Houla. Also in Libya remember the fake photos of a crowd of "Anti Gadaffi protesters", many of whom carried Indian flags. (photo was just an unrelated gathering in india). You can't trust the MSM or al jazeera to give you the truth about Syria period. read full story / add a comment

There is no mistaking the fact that cruelty to animals in Ireland is on the rise. Irish laws to protect animals have failed animals and the work to end animal abuse is down to caring individuals and groups like ARAN. People across the nation are against the cruelty but doing something about is often where the buck stops for many people. On August 26 we are giving people from across the nation and beyond, a chance to take action. Don't miss ARAN's big, peaceful march and rally in Dublin. We'll gather at the Garden of Remembrance on O' Connell Street for speeches and awards before setting off on a special route through Dublin's busiest streets for a peaceful, lively and upbeat march to call for tougher laws to stamp out animal abuse, and to raise awareness of what's happening to animals in this country. read full story / add a comment
