Wade michael page, was ex-military and a neo-nazi. Page fronted a white supremacist rock band called End Apathy, according to watchdog group the Southern Poverty Law Center. SPLC also determined that in 2000, Page attempted to purchase goods from the neo-Nazi group the National Alliance, described as America's then "most important hate group." In 2010, Page gave an interview to white-power website Label 56. Page wrote songs with titles like "Self Destruct" and "Usefull [sic] Idiots." This part is interesting, a demoted drunken, obstreperous soldier appointed to psychological operations. Was it a real demotion or a psychological operation itself? Page, 40, served in the Army from April 1992 through October 1998, during which he was demoted from sergeant to specialist. While in the Army Wade served in Ft. Bliss in Texas and at Ft. Bragg in North Carolina. Wade's job was as a Hawk missile system repairman, and he then became a psychological operations specialist, defense official confirmed to ABC news. read full story / add a comment

Syrian rebels have murdered prisoners. While the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and Human Rights Watch have condemned it. So far the US haven't mentioned it. Human Rights Watch has told the BBC the act was potentially a war crime. “What it looks like is execution of detainees and if that is the case, that would be a war crime”: Clive Baldwin, Senior legal adviser for Human Rights Watch. HRW, he added, had been seeing evidence of abuses such as torture and executions by rebel elements "for some time". The head of the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which documents violence by all sides in the conflict, condemned the killings by the rebels as "criminal". The UN mission in Syria reports that the rebels in Aleppo are now armed with some heavy weapons including tanks and says that helicopters, heavy machine guns and artillery are also being used in the fighting. "We are calling on all parties to exercise utmost restraint... to distinguish between civilians and [combatants] in this conflict," said spokeswoman Sausan Ghosheh. read full story / add a comment

The Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) is proud to invite you to a public talk by Haneen Zoabi MK, a Palestinian member of the Israeli Parliament on Friday 10th August in the Metropole Hotel, McCurtain Street, Cork City at 8pm. This is a rare opportunity to find out directly from a public representative in the Israeli parliament how the self proclaimed “only democracy in the Middle East” truly functions. It promises to be an informative and eye-opening experience, and will afford those in attendance the opportunity to learn about issues relating to both the Israeli occupation of Palestine and the continuing erosion of democratic freedoms inside Israel, including the crackdown on the work of domestic and international NGOs. read full story / add a comment

A new coalition of thw willing is being prepared by the US to wage war on Syria. That includes the EU as a whole, the EU have imposed sanctions on Syria and sanctions are war by another means. Full text at link. Following its failure to ram through a resolution against syria at the united nations security council last week, the administration of barack obama has intensified its preparations to gather a “coalition of the willing” to oust the government of syria and install a us client regime. The resolution would have imposed new sanctions against damascus under chapter 7 of the un charter, which authorizes the use of military force. The last such resolution by the council was used by the us and nato to justify their war for regime-change in libya. read full story / add a comment

Many believe that London will be rocked by a false flag operation at the 2012 Olympics. It has been proven by MI-5 Whistle-blowers that we live in the age of false flag terror from British Occupied Ireland to the Euphrates. We need be ready even if the 2012 Olympic Games could come and go without an incident. It is better to be prepared for false flags and be ready just in case something something does happen. read full story / add a comment

Abstract: For most progressive activists, it is a given that the military-industrial
complex is a clear and highly visible barrier to progressive social change. So it is particularly interesting to note that a number of groups involved in progressive activist education – which are held in high regard by activists – maintain strong links to military and political elites. One of the best known of these organisations is the US-based Albert Einstein Institution. This paper will provide a systematic analysis of the history of this Institution, and the key people associated with it, and demonstrate how their work is intimately linked to the international democracy-manipulating community – whose work is exemplified by the US-based National Endowment for Democracy, a group which is well-known for its support of the failed 2002 coup in Venezuela. This analysis will expose the crucial role such activist educators play in catalysing revolutions in countries deemed appropriative for regime change by transnational elites. In the light of the dubious nature of these educational activities, this paper will conclude by offering a number of suggestions for how concerned citizens and educators may counter the cynical (ab)use of activist education by political elites as a new and powerful tool of imperialism. read full story / add a comment

“The greatest gift of the garden is the restoration of the five senses” – Hanna Rion Since the beginning of February 2012 the CDC along with residents from Tom Kelly Flats, set out to create a community garden for the area. Although at the time, we were entering into the unknown scene of gardening and were operating on an experimental and trial and error basis, we’re happy to announce that the initiative was a great success. Today (8/7/12) the CDC along with residents in Tom Kelly Flats began the first harvest of the community garden. Our first main crop to be harvested was our organic potatoes, we then harvested some of our organic vegetables as well. read full story / add a comment

There is a growing trend of cruelty to animals in Ireland. Irish legislation has failed and continues to fail animals in this country. On Sunday, August 26th 2012 at 1pm Sharp meeting at the Garden of Remembrance, hundreds of compassionate and caring people and other respected groups will join together to peacefully march through Dublin's City centre for a lively and upbeat protest calling for tougher laws to stamp out animal abuse and to recognise animals as sentient beings. Looking away or leaving it to someone else is not an option, and will only prolong animal abuse. read full story / add a comment

Today what is described as the Irish working class is of a different character. Much of the working class work a three day week or don’t work at all. But they and the so called low paid worker receive a basket of benefits from the capitalist welfare state that bring their living standards up to the level(and even beyond) of the higher strata workers who, prima facie, appear to be better off. But much of this strata may earn less revenue, in effect, than many of these workers from the lower strata. read full story / add a comment
